Roger Kent
June 30, 1949 - December 21, 2018
Dear Friends,
Roger Kent, a beloved member of the Fellowship of Friends, completed his task by his own hand, on the late afternoon of Friday, December 21, 2018. Roger was sixty-nine years old.
Roger joined the Fellowship in the Atlanta Center, in March of 1976. He and his wife Elizabeth have lived for many years in Grass Valley. Roger served the school mainly through the arts – playing the cello, acting in plays, and supporting the drama octave.
On behalf of all who knew you, we thank thee.

Funeral Service Text: Roger Kent 2019-02
Every man has within himself the entire human condition.

Roger,
I think you tried to balance your own strength and strong points of view by service to people in need as you saw it. You helped Irina many times with rides and patience when I really needed the help. One day you found me sitting in my car at Apollo and just sat with me silently in the passenger seat as I tried to digest what seemed impossible that day. To lose your considerable strength suddenly was more than you could bear. I think your inability to speak, to complete a thought, your loss of communication was the hardest blow. Communication with you was often like a bumpy road that you drove down to sort things out and calm down. Only now, a year later, can I say these things and thank you for how much you gave without any hesitation. My love and respect to you, William Galvin
Memory of your conversations and thoughtful cello playing will always be with me. Your efforts were not unnoticed and now your life is assimilated only into the memories of the friends with whom you spent company and your friends of whom I find privilege to count as a member.
Oh Roger. I haven’t talked with you in a while ☹️ and when I looked you up on Facebook today, I see you are gone from this earthly life. Thank you for your creative thoughts and training games. I learned many things from you. My condolences and bessings to your family!
Dear Roger, I enjoyed getting to know you through several years working with Sierra Commons. I’m so sorry for your family’s loss. Rest in Peace.
Your Montaigne presentation at our house in Amsterdam left its staying mark -Thankyou.
Roger,
I value our coffee conversations in Nevada City very much. They were a bonding experience.

Roger,
Thank you for your quiet presence. You created third state for me more than once. I was so shocked to find you standing next to my hospital bed when I came out of open-heart surgery. We had hardly any social exchanges prior, but there you were, unassuming and quiet, and always supportive. You will be missed. In Loving Friendship, Samuel.
Dear Friend Roger
What good memories I have of spending time with you, including a trip to India where you did so well adjusting to a new and quite different culture. I shall miss your dear companionship very much. With great love, Christopher.
