My first dinner at Apollo, in 1991 with the Teacher, he mentioned Henry had passed away in Brazil. I remember Henry, as most do, as a very sweet, gentle person, who, after his diagnosis, became, seemingly, the more relaxed and open person he had always been, deep inside. As Anatole Broyard wrote, Henry seemed “Intoxicated by My Illness.”
Dear Henry,
Delightful times spent with you and your daughter, Lucy.
With love, Teresa xoxo
